Europe to the Americas time differences
Europe runs 5 to 8 hours ahead of North America and 4 to 5 hours ahead of South America. That makes this the easiest long-haul group on the site to schedule: the European afternoon meets the American morning, and most of these pairings share two to four working hours.

16 of the 27 have the same gap in January as in August, which is unusual here — it happens because both sides observe daylight saving and move in the same direction. But they do not move on the same dates, so for about three weeks in March and one week in late October the gap is an hour off the figure you would expect. That window does not show up in the table below, which is why it is worth saying in words.

zoneinfo, for two reference instants: midday on 14 January 2026 and midday on 4 August 2026. Two instants are needed because 15 of the 34 cities move their clocks and 19 do not, so a single figure would be wrong for half the year. Gaps are the difference between the two cities' UTC offsets at the same instant. Shared working hours are the overlap of 09:00–17:00 local time in both cities on the same calendar day. Nothing here is estimated or rounded: every figure is recomputed from the tz database each time this page is rebuilt, and the date it was last checked is printed at the top. Full methodology. Each pairing has a page from each side. The table above links one direction; these link the other.
Common follow-up questions
Why do Europe and North America change clocks on different dates?
The EU and the UK move on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October. The United States and Canada move on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November. In 2026 that puts London and New York 4 hours apart from 8 to 28 March and again from 25 to 31 October, instead of the usual 5.
What is the best time for a Europe-Americas call?
Early afternoon in Europe against morning in the Americas. Most pairs here share between two and four working hours, listed in the table.
